How reflexology works

One of the main methods of healing by reducing stress though the practice of reflexology, is allowing homeostasis to return to all systems of the body.

For healing to occur a person is assisted into a state of deep relaxation, as well as specific energy blockages or areas of imbalance being targeted during a treatment.

When the nervous system is brought back into a parasympathetic state, then many symptoms, both the physical and the psychological, will be relieved.

As the human body is self-regulating it is able to heal itself when in a healthy and balanced state.

The NEPIP technique is an example of treatment focusing on this re-balancing by bringing homeostasis to the nervous system, endocrine system, psychological and immune functions.

Concurrently working with an individual’s inner intent is also a powerful means to bring about healing. Affirmations and simple and gentle guided breath work can be beneficial during the treatment, as well as some assisted meditative observation and awareness practice.

Taking on the role of assisting, to raise awareness of stressors, that affect one personally and develop ways to implement some control over these stressors can have a significant impact on healing.

Taking responsibility and making positive changes and choices, in between treatments, also allows the feeling of autonomy in the process of one’s own healing journey.

In addition to the re-balancing effects, reflexology treatments focus on specific zones on the feet that correspond with particular systems, joints and muscle groups, as well as main organs of the body. This allows for detailed and precise attention to areas of weakness or discomfort.
